Old Testament Truths to Apply Every Day

Sometimes we take God’s creation for granted. God’s creation is made up of so many miracles, and the miracles can be seen every day.

My “Little Warrior Prince” started Kindergarten this year. And like most of the kindergartners, he was excited about Field Day. The kids talked about it for two weeks before the big day. They were able to pick out which events they wanted to participate in. Relays, running, jumping, they had the traditional events. There are also several new events with milk jugs, water balloons, even wet sponges. The kids were excited, and I planned my schedule to attend his first Field Day and take lots of pictures. Well, wouldn’t you know it? A cool front was forecasted for that afternoon. We thought there would be a pretty good chance of rain, but were confident the Field Day would be complete before the weather turned bad. We were wrong. Everything had been set up. The teachers hung whistles around their necks, the cones outlined the field.  Chairs, coolers, adoring parents, everything was in place. The events began and you could hear that wonderfully familiar school yard sound of children echoing from a mile away. The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were highlighted with laughter and smiles from everyone around. But the skies grew dark, and the breeze kicked up. Then the rain began to fall. The kids didn’t seem to mind at first. The parents dashed for their cars, ran for cover under trees, and pulled jackets up over their heads to avoid the big drops. After a few minutes, the rain seemed to gain strength. At that point the teachers met at mid field and decided to call it off. The kids, hair now flattened on their heads, shirts dripping, and smiles drooping, wore the faces of disappointment. Their shoulders slouched and they dragged their feet as they met with their teachers in groups to head back inside. The echo of laughter and screaming had been replaced by the sound rain pelting the ground. But as the teachers counted up all their wet little athletes, the rain began to slow a bit. And just then, a slice of sunshine beamed out from behind a cloud. The wet, huddled masses were walking with their heads down, too quickly to notice something beautiful. In the sky was a huge rainbow, almost a full arch. One of the brightest clearest rainbows I had ever seen. I ran up to my son and pulled him back from his group. We stopped and looked up at that beautiful rainbow. “Remember what the rainbow means?” I asked him. “It’s a promise from God”. Many of the other kids and parents stopped and looked up. Some were saying, “Whoa!”, and pointing to the sky. When I looked back down at my son, I saw a big smile on his face.  Disappointment for the moment disappeared. “Even when we are disappointed, like with this rain ending your Field Day, God has a promise for you. He shows us His love every day. Isn’t that amazing?” He smiled again, grabbed my hand, and we walked together back into the school, our shoes sloshing water with every step.

Take time to share God’s word every day with your children. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 reminds us, “These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart.  You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates”.

Keep Calm and Sparkle On!

Have you ever wondered how to sparkle for Jesus? The Bible tells us how in Mark 16:15, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” Well, when Princess Sparkles and Princess Sprinkles first read this verse, they were sad because their parents told them they couldn’t leave their neighborhood, much less go out into all the world.

“I guess we won’t be able to sparkle for Jesus until we’re old enough to drive,” said Princess Sparkles sadly.

“That’s going to take forever since they first have to build a road from the United States to all the world!” exclaimed Princess Sprinkles.

“You’re right!” cried Princess Sparkles. “At this rate, we’ll never get to sparkle for Jesus! What are we going to do?”

That’s when I, Glitter Girl, came and helped them understand Mark 16:15. Jesus spoke these words forty days after He had died on the cross for our sins and was brought back to life by God. He wanted His disciples to tell others how much God loves them by having His one and only son, Jesus, die on the cross for them. Anyone who believes in Jesus will one day live in heaven with Him. The disciples sparkled for Jesus by telling others of God’s love for them. Do you know that you too can sparkle for Jesus? It’s easy! All you need to do is read the Bible and start sharing God’s love and His Word with your friends and those in your very own neighborhood. Once you do, your friends will tell their friends, and their friends will tell other friends, and so on, and so on, and so on! So share God’s love and His Word, the Bible, with everyone, no matter where you are or how small you may be. Then you too, like Princess Sparkles and Princess Sprinkles, can sparkle for Jesus!

Keep sparkling!

The Royal Reveal

Princess Sparkles, Glitter Girl, and Princess Sprinkles then…

Princess Sprinkles, Glitter Girl, Princess Sparkles now!

Hear ye! Hear ye, royal heirs. I have exciting news to share!
Royal Purpose Ministries was founded in 2004.
And after eight blessed years,
we have exciting changes in store.

But first, this rhyming thing has got to end.
Because it’s really making my head spin!

There, that’s better. The old saying, “The days are long but the years are short,” is so true! These past eight years seem to have flown by. Looking ahead we feel the Lord taking us in some new directions. Our biggest goal at Royal Purpose Ministries, whether we’re wearing sparkling shoes or combat boots, is trying to keep in step with Jesus.

Last summer, we felt the LORD stirring in our hearts the idea of three-day Princess Prep School and Warrior Prince Academy Summer camps. These three-day camps would be a mini version of our five-day camps, power packed with God’s truths.

We’re thrilled to announce that our first three-day camp will be held June 13-15, 2012 at Houston’s First Baptist Church. We’d love for you and your little one to be a part of this new adventure. Be sure to check our summer calendar for three and five day camps near you.

Not a camp near you? Contact us and we’ll gladly work with you to try and schedule one. Also, be sure to check our calendar for future Mother/Daughter and Father/Son weekend events.

And now for the BIG announcement. Drum roll please…..
Our updated website will now include weekly devotionals! You’ll get to hear from Sir Ryan, the Glitter Girls, Princess Kelly (that’s me ☺), and some “surprise” guests! Also coming soon on Thursday evenings will be a weekly online mother/daughter devotional video with my thirteen year old daughter, Kendall (aka Glitter Girl) and me. So put on your princess pjs and join us as we search God’s’ Word on what it means to be a princess with a purpose, today. As you can probably tell, we’re excited about the new changes.

But rest assured our message will not change whatsoever, because our King is the same yesterday, today, and forever!

So come join us on our new endeavor!

Royally yours & His,
Kelly
